Five handoff modes—NT² never sees plaintext.

Who this is for

Anyone who needs to hand structured secrets to another person—or show redacted fields in person—without email attachments, chat screenshots, or trusting NT² with plaintext.

What you need

TierFree for all five modes
Vault stateUnlocked for Send and asset sharing; Receive and ?m= links can stash intent while locked
NetworkOffline OK for vault-to-vault (local device), .nt2share, safe presentation, and .nt2backup; hosted encrypted links need network + cloud sync registration
Feature toggleOptional Sent shares outbox (Settings → Features); Sound handoff tab on Receive when enabled

Five sharing modes

ModeBest forLeaves your vault?NT² sees plaintext?
A — Vault-to-vaultFamily, partner, trusted contactsEncrypted envelope to recipient InboxNever
B — Encrypted linkContractor, lawyer, one-timeURL + separate share passphraseNever
C — Share file (.nt2share)AirDrop, USB, email attachmentEncrypted file + separate passphraseNever
D — Safe presentationIn-person or video verificationStays on your device—masked fields onlyNever
E — Full backup (.nt2backup)Whole-vault migration you controlEntire encrypted vault snapshotNever

Modes A–D cover single assets or messages. Mode E is for trusted device migration only—not for sending one bank item to a landlord.

Hub routes and navigation

Receive (QR default)https://se.nt2.me/receiveTabs: /receive/link, /receive/file, /receive/sound
Send (text default)https://se.nt2.me/sendFile tab: /send/file
Contactshttps://se.nt2.me/contactsTrusted vault address book by Key DID
Inboxhttps://se.nt2.me/inboxAccept or decline pending shares

Receive and Send live in the app bar—not in the bottom nav. Inbox is where inbound vault-to-vault and link imports wait until you act.

Typical flows

Send one asset to a contact

  1. Open an asset → Share (or use Send for ad-hoc text/files).
  2. Choose Send to another vault, pick a contact, and deliver via link, QR, cloud relay, or nearby audio.
  3. Recipient reviews in InboxAccept or Decline.
  1. ShareShare link (or Send hub Text tab).
  2. Set expiry / burn-after-read if offered; copy URL and share passphrase separately.
  3. Recipient opens the link—often via Receive → Link—and imports to Inbox or a read-only view.

Show ID or bank details in a meeting

  1. Open the asset → Present (safe presentation).
  2. Toggle which fields are visible; use timed reveal for sensitive values.
  3. Nothing uploads—see Safe presentation.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Share passphrase ≠ master password. Treat share passphrases like one-time codes; send them out-of-band (different app, in person, phone call).
  • ?m= is for payloads addressed to you, not for browsing Settings. Normal paths like https://se.nt2.me/settings do not use ?m=. Details: Sent to me.
  • Inbox is not automatic storage. Pending messages stay queued until you accept—nothing merges into Assets without your confirmation.
  • Verify contacts before high-trust shares: confirm signing key fingerprints out-of-band.
  • Do not .nt2backup to untrusted parties—that file contains your whole vault ciphertext.
