Delete a local vault
Last updated: 28 Jun 2026
Wipes SQLite, attachment blobs, and the device index entry.
Who this is for
Anyone removing vault data from this device only—before selling hardware, cleaning a shared computer, or abandoning a decoy vault after duress PIN setup.
What you need
| Tier | Free |
| Vault state | Unlocked (master password required for delete-this-vault) |
| Network | Offline-capable |
| Feature toggle | None — always under Advanced |
Steps
Export first (strongly recommended)
- Open Settings → Recovery → Backup & restore (
https://se.nt2.me/settings/recovery/backup). - Export a full
.nt2backupand verify the checksum. - If you use threshold recovery, also export a fresh recovery kit.
Delete this vault from this device
- Open Settings → Advanced → Delete from this device (
https://se.nt2.me/settings/advanced/deleteVault). - Read the warnings: local delete does not remove cloud replicas, cancel Premium, or wipe other devices.
- Choose Delete this vault from this device.
- Enter your master password and confirm.
- NT² removes the per-vault SQLite database, attachment blobs (OPFS or Tauri files), and the IndexedDB directory entry. You return to the vault picker.
Delete all vaults on this device
- On the same Advanced page, choose Delete all vaults on this device.
- Type DELETE in the confirmation field and confirm.
- If this was the only vault, NT² may provision a new default vault immediately—still empty until you configure it.
What is not deleted
- Cloud sync ciphertext on NT² servers (if sync was enabled).
- Lemon Squeezy subscription records—manage billing separately under Premium.
- Backups, recovery kits, or exports you already saved elsewhere.
- Other devices that enrolled the same vault replica.
Tips and common mistakes
- Cannot undo—treat delete like secure wipe of local storage, not trash.
- Cloud-synced vaults show extra warnings; disabling sync first clarifies intent but is not required for local delete.
- Decoy vaults created for duress PIN are separate display names—delete them individually if you no longer need them.
- On Tauri desktop, note any last saved backup path shown on the Backup page before deletion.
