VPN template
Last updated: 4 Jul 2026
Official optional IT pack—structured fields for vpn secrets.
What this template is
The VPN template stores vPN and WireGuard profiles with endpoint and credentials. Enable it under Settings → Category templates → Infrastructure & IT.
| Category slug | vpn |
| Pack | Official optional — nt2-template-vpn |
| Tier | Free |
When to use it (and when not to)
Good fits
- Corporate VPN username/password pairs
- Full WireGuard config in a multiline secret field
- Separate items per site or region
Use something else instead
| Situation | Better template |
|---|---|
| SSH tunnel to a host | SSH Key |
| Network gear admin UI | Network Device |
| Unstructured .ovpn paste | Secure Note |
Everyday workflows
- Paste WireGuard config into the dedicated multiline field when applicable.
- Store VPN endpoint and credentials for legacy IPSec/OpenVPN setups.
- Never share VPN secrets via Mode D—defaults hard-block masked fields.

Steps
- Unlock your vault and open Settings → General → Category templates.
- Under Infrastructure & IT, toggle VPN On.
- Open Assets and Add asset → VPN.
- Fill required fields and Save.
Tips and common mistakes
- Enable pack first—VPN is not a core builtin.
- Do not paste secrets into Secure Note—you lose masking, validation, and share hard-blocks.
- Clipboard auto-clear applies to copied secrets—paste within 30 seconds.
