How NT² compares

NT² is a structured digital asset vault—not a blank notes app and not built around browser autofill. This page explains where NT² fits alongside password managers and other tools you may already use.

NT² vs password managers

Other alternatives

Some tools overlap partially. Here is an honest fit guide—not a winner-take-all ranking.

Enpass

Offline-capable password manager with many templates for cards, IDs, and bank details—closest commercial overlap with NT²'s structured vault idea.

When NT² fits better
You want asset-first templates (crypto mnemonic fields, routing numbers), local-first by default, and no password-manager account to start.
When the alternative fits
You need mature autofill, passkeys, and syncing through your own cloud (iCloud, Google Drive) today.

Apple Notes / Notion

Blank-canvas apps people already use for bank details, seed phrases, and passport scans—often synced as plaintext.

When NT² fits better
High-sensitivity assets need encrypted fields, category templates, and `.nt2vault` export—not a wiki or task workspace.
When the alternative fits
General notes, drafts, and project planning that are not high-sensitivity secrets.

KeePassXC

Open-source local encrypted database—excellent for credentials with full user control.

When NT² fits better
You want product-grade structured asset UX (crypto, bank, document templates) without building custom fields.
When the alternative fits
You prefer a self-hosted `.kdbx` file, open-source auditability, and flexible custom entry types.

Why people choose NT²

  • Structured asset privacy — purpose-built templates for data people still store in Notes apps today.
  • True offline — not an offline fallback, but offline as the default architecture.
  • Vault-native sharing (roadmap) — end-to-end encrypted handoff to other vaults and non-vault recipients, not just export files.

Comparison FAQ

Is NT² a password manager?

NT² stores credentials in a structured template, but it is positioned as a structured digital asset vault—crypto, bank, document, and identity data come first. Browser autofill is a planned adjunct, not the core product.

Can I replace 1Password or Bitwarden entirely?

If you rely on browser autofill and password capture every day, keep your password manager. NT² complements or replaces the secure notes and spreadsheets where you store mnemonics, bank details, and document metadata.

Why local-first instead of cloud-synced?

Sensitive assets should be readable instantly without network latency or account lock-in. Optional Premium sync replicates ciphertext only—the server never sees plaintext.

Is NT² zero-knowledge like 1Password?

Yes for vault contents: your master password and derived keys never leave the browser. NT² cannot decrypt your data or reset your master password—that is intentional.
